Is it the case that our City Leadership and indeed past and present highly paid Directors are preparing to hand over control of Birmingham Children Services to the Government.
During all of the publicity last week, the Senior Councillors from Birmingham City Council including the Leadership who are of course elected by the people of this City were notably silent.
Peter Hay was appointed Director as the latest hope, but, he was an existing part of the sinking structure.
I understand that Children Services were once again restructured in June of this year by its New Director and Consultants, despite Manager’s telling them it will not work, they went ahead and did it anyway. Now they are telling us that it is not working.
Birmingham Childrens Services appears to be a place where people come earn a lot of money and then leave with a very handsome pay off. Basically, “a quick buck at taxpayer’s expense”.
What is the Cabinet really doing about this?
Is anyone consulting the staff there in a meaningful manner? i.e do they listen?
Does the City Leadership want to off load this Children Services to the Government?
Are the Manager’s, being consulted properly as they have to deliver the service?
In fact does anyone really care about the wellbeing of our vulnerable and at risk Children in Birmingham?
Well in my view the apparent silence is a very strong signal for you to speculate about the answer.
The main issue for me is the all of the people in Birmingham deserve to know what’s happening in detail. Just to say we are struggling is not good enough.
There appears to be a feeling of surrender and Birmingham City Council and just like the compliance with the CUTS, are preparations being made to hand over Children Services.
Many Politicians talk about transparency and accountability, do you believe that Councillor Sir Albert Bore and his Cabinet are really being transparent and accountable with the continual failings of Birmingham Children’s Services.
Let,s see what occurs during the forthcoming weeks.
