An interesting Summit today at Tally Ho hosted by The West Midlands PCC. Bob Jones expressed the need to reach out to the Communities of the West Midlands in order to develop the Trust & Confidence relationship with the delivery of Policing in the West Midlands.
He expressed his plan to develop, local policing plans based on geographical areas.
Issued of Mental health, Hate Crimes with a focus on the Gay community and also the BME Community.
Doreen Lawrence's keynote speech was moving about her quest for Justice for her son Stephen Lawrence which there is no closure with only two of the attackers behind bars and the rest walking free. She stated when she met Nelson Mandela he commented that a 'black lives are cheap' , but, she pointed that that all lives are of equal value.
There is a need to develop positive links with the Police and dialogue needs to be a two way process, but, the key message was RESPECT.
Its time now for the people of the West Midlands to start seeing the changes and a more cohesive relationship between the community and the Police.
