Update on Concerns of Birmingham Protest Legislation Needed

19/7/2013

I must confess that I am still concerned of the impact of the EDL protest in the City Tomorrow, with the potential mixture of hot weather and Alcohol.

However, I must thank West Midlands Police for acting upon the concerns raised in order to ensure all action is taken to safeguard visitors to Symphony Hall.

I believe and appreciate in the right to protest but timings of these protests can sometimes be of major concern as in this case.

There needs to be legislation in my view to at least postpone protests when there is a clear danger to public safety. I would call upon the Police & Crime Commissioner and all Birmingham MP's to canvass the Home Secretary to review this, as the people of this City do deserve their concerns being addressed.

However, the message is simple we love our City and we should all be sensible tomorrow if we are going into the City Centre and ensure that we cooperate with the authorities in order to ensure that this event goes off in a peaceful manner.

Remember as a City of great Multi-Culturalism lets stand united for peace in Birmingham.

You're not the only one to be concerned about this, especially as the organisation we're talking about is the EDL, full to the brim of Nazi Germany 'scapegoat one group for the ills of another' politics, and backing that up with testosterone alcohol and violence - and as for 'defending England' remember the EDL are annoyed by any opposition to their gospel of hate even by the white community. Unity, anybody???
