Following Various events of the past few weeks in Birmingham, there is a need for greater engagement and cohesion.
Many Communities are being left behind and some are indeed unable to structure themselves with their relationship with the Local Authority.
Following the saga of Jamaica in the Square, I have offered to assist Birmingham City Council in order to ensure that a successful and reflective event is delivered.
There is a need for structure within the African /Caribbean Community, when it comes to Community Activities. My brief is Birmingham is for the People of Birmingham and we are all one, however, this task is being commenced with the African/Caribbean Community and will be stretched across to all of the Communities in Birmingham in order to build greater cohesion of all races in the City and to recapture the spirit of Birmingham.
It is intended to commence a new approach to opening the minds of individuals politically and create greater engagement for people to speak out constructively as all of us do have a voice. We must work with the disaffected, as decisions in this City are being made on an electoral turnout of only 29% of the registered electorate.
If we really want our voices to be heard we must now engage in order to increase election turnouts in the City.
Community structure is important also, when dealing with the local authority, which we will be working on also.
This is a call to all houses of faith, community groups etc for us all to get together and work together, in order to build a better Birmingham.
