Having spoken to Mark Jastrzebski today of Knightstone Neighbourhood Watch, which is one of the leaders of the campaign, to save Spring Hill Library. Many signatures have been collected over the weekend; following another campaign today, ahead of the public meeting on Thursday at Spring Hill Library 5.30pm, open to all.
Your continued support is welcome and I believe it only correct to publish on my blog this statement form the main leaders of this Campaign who have been active for a number of years in the community in order to show their feelings about the current situation:
"The Main People is Ann / Mark and Brian
No Springhill should always stay in the hands of local People that means staying with BCC. There is alot more that BCC can do not attack local Front Line service, View Contracts that BCC signed there is cheaper tenders out there but will BCC look for them. NO NO NO.
Why does residents have to suffer for the mistake of BCC HIGH RACKING OFFICERS AND LEADERS. If they what to lead they should take a 35% pay cut for a start for all BCC / Bosses Councillors and MP. Why should we have the cut and they have a increase on Wages. BCC has not contacted the residents which are the most important people to contact instead they go the The librarians which are putting together their bid. on behalf the the local residents NO NO NO Save are Libraries for the residents and our Children.
2 YEARS AGO BCC went in to an agreement with Tesco's called 106 to keep the Springhill library open and run by BCC, Now they want to get out of if in the Pass 5 Years spring library has had over £650,000 spent on it by public money and now they want to close Shame on you BCC."
This was posted by Mark Jastrzebski, which clearly shows the public feeling toward the proposed closure of local community libraries and indeed local facilities.
However, today I have found out that Ladywood Neighbourhood Office has closed and the residents of Ladywood now have to travel to Newtown. Does anyone know why this office was closed and were the local residents consulted? Is this a permanent closure or is it temporary and how long for?
What is really happening in the Ladywood Area of Birmingham?
We'll have to find out.
Please join the public meeting on Thursday 5.30pm, Mark and the team need your support.
