The Leader of Birmingham City Council John Clancy has resigned. Is it as case of Go before being pushed?
The Bin dispute following g the relief of the people of Birmingham to know had been settled, was recommenced on Friday following confused messages from recent ACAS discussions where it was indicated that there was settlement of key issues of reinstatement of a suspended shop steward and also protecting Grade 3 refuse workers.
Clearly, this is unacceptable at a time when we see maggots on our streets, rotting rubbish which smells, various flies and also rodents, which undoubtedly are creating a public health hazard.
Now that John has accepted responsibility for this by resigning, we must now urge Interim Leader Ian Ward to make the settlement of this dispute his number 1 priority as this can no longer continue in a City which has serious vision and ambitions, which is sadly being defined by the Bin fiasco.
We don't want to hear about equal pay we want our bins emptied on time and we want our streets cleaner. Its a simple as that.
Furthermore, this whole disputes has demeaned our work in arranging Community Clean ups.
Both sides are urged to get around the table and sort this out and stop pointing fingers.
