"Those who are not registered to vote deserve their predicament" a quote from Rev. Jesse Jackson at Birmingham's Library.
Slavery has thought us one thing, how to survive and deal with oppression. despite many injustices, we found our own comfort zones and then become insular to the oppression that we experience on a daily basis. This is a sad indictment of the Political System were the actions of Political parties fuel disaffection by their actions.
Representation of the people is not a private club despite what those in authority may believe and the real power is with the people.
It is time to break away from the comfort zones and start fighting and demanding what is rightfully ours, however, the only language that Politicians really understand is through the ballot box. To use this power weapon to the oppressed and disaffected, you must be registered to vote. If you are not registered and get inspired during an election campaign you will not be allowed to vote as your not on the register. Many people found this out during the recent Police & Crime Commissioner elections.
Your vote is your voice to tell the authorities that you want change and importantly, you must never lose sight of the objective. One has to fight and keep fighting, whilst iinspiring others to join you in order to develop that united front: but the main thing is never to give up on your dream. Be committed to your beliefs and knock over with extreme confidence any barriers that will come your way.
Your vote is your passport to invoking change by being heard, time to stop playing and sitting on the fence, register to vote and then use it. This is the only real language those in positions of power understand.
