Last night a resident of Porchester Drive Newtown, contacted me to advise me that she had a visit from one of the existing Councillors covering Newtown and when she asked him about the rubbish. Here's the message that I have received of the resident:
"Well done Desmond for highlighting the nastiness we the resident of Newtown have to live in, walk pass and tired of reporting to the council and nothing been done 😡. It so happened that I had a knock on my door yes'day from "Councillor Ziaul Islam"... I to showed him all the rubbish on my road and I named and shamed the residence who have been doing this... He promised he would do something if he got my vote... Told him - he has done nothing before for us before, so my vote is going elsewhere !!!! He wasn't to impressed.... Told him what he is doing is "to little and it's to LATE" !!!!!#"
Furthermore, my video's on Facebook and twitter last night with comments from residents are very powerful as they clearly highlight the issues that many of them are facing. The number of flies and smell are highly concerning and to know that the existing Councillor is using his failure to represent Newtown for the past 12 years as a mechanism to get vote is shocking.
For residents, the rubbish in Lennox Street is with waste management and they have confirmed they will deal with this as soon as possible.
I intend to earn your vote and not blackmail you for it and I'm here for "everyone and not the chosen few".
