Having grown up in the locality and seen the difficulties in the area, I formally announce my intention to stand for the Local Councillor in Newtown at the forthcoming lection on Thursday 3rd May 2018.
Having hosted 4 public meetings and not only listened but having to deal with various issues being faced by the local community, I have concluded that the residents on Newtown have been sold down the river for far too long. It is now time for a breath of fresh air to put Newtown back on the map for the right reasons.
My Pledge
I am prepared to be of service to the people of Newtown by working for and with you to build a better, brighter, safer, greener, and prosperous Newtown. You deserve a lot better than what’s on offer and it is time for change and time for your voices not only to be heard but for you to be a part of the journey towards change in Newtown.
The work has already started:
1. I have arranged for the City to clear the rubbish as many of you have already seen and this will be an ongoing process along with organising community clean ups.
2. We are arranging the setting up of 4 local residents associations in Newtown.
3. I am working with the authorities to deal with anti-social behaviour, gun and knife crime locally. Furthermore, ensuring that the Police give Newtown the priority it should have.
4. I pledge that you will have weekly surgeries when I am elected your Councillor, which will be accessible for all in 4 different locations within Newtown.
5. Ensure the continuation of two way dialogue.
6. I have already toured the area with The West Midlands Mayor Andy Street.
7. Will fight to ensure that The Drum and Newtown Community Centre remain facilities for you all.
8. Promote Newtown as an area for big business to invest and create those all important Jobs, skills. An area of opportunity for all.
9. Look at the improvement of Housing locally and also the regeneration of the area.
10. Making Newtown a safer environment for all of you, your visitors, your children and a place of belonging that we are all proud off.
You will never be forgotten about again.
I'm here for everybody and not the chosen few.
