With an uncertain future looming not only over The Drum despite been for sale to Community groups at present and also Newtown Community Centre. This has highlighted a major concern raised by residents of the lack of Community Facilities in the area.
There are individuals , groups and organisations, that are now leaving the area owing to the lack of facilities for even a meeting.
We are aware of facilities at St. Georges Church and NOT The Hub which is now very expensive to hire, along with Pannel croft Village along with CCOGIC and Mount Zion Community Church and the As-Suffa Institute.
However, the actual community facilities are diminishing.
I do believe that the current local Councillors have been to compliant in this reduction of Community facilities and have not taken any notice of what you the people of Newtown have had to say on this.
Clearly, this is unacceptable, however, thankfully I have heard you and pledge to fight for better Community facilities in Newtown for all.
At a time when we should be promoting Unity in our Community, it is difficult to move the agenda forward when there is a shortage of facilities which are local and easily accessible within the Newtown Ward.
Do feel free to get in touch and voice your concerns to me; I am mindful that whilst it is now the Easter break, the Summer Holidays will upon us in now time and we need to have structured Community activities for everyone, in order to ensure that loitering if kept to a minimum.
I am available and ready to be of service to "everyone and not the chosen few".
