It has been made clear to me on the doorsteps of Newtown, that the access to Council Services has been a major problem, wing to telephone access and online access not being of the standard of a face to face service.
Since the closure of Newtown neighbourhood Office to the people of Newtown many are struggling to access local authority services, which was highlighted to me with the fact that some newly let homes and also temporary accommodation units, are still waiting for their wheelie bins, which has exacerbated the rubbish/litter issue plaguing the area.
I will look into ensuring that access is easier for residents and will be seeking for the Council to have mobile community based access points periodically, in order to deal with these issues.
Furthermore, I will arrange to walk all tower/maisonette blocks and the estates generally on a quarterly basis with Waste Management, the Housing Department and the Police as standard along with any other relevant agencies in order to ensure that we keep on top of the issues that are negatively impacting of your daily lives in Newtown and off course you will be more than welcomed to attend also.
