Today Adrian Keeling QC commenced his closing speech on behalf of P.C. Paul Greenfield at Birmingham Crown Court, he asked the Jury to consider that when someone is a part of a stressful incident they may be prone to forgetting details of the event which this was. He also ask the Jury to consider the inconsistencies of others whilst giving evidence. The major admission by the defence is that they now agree that there was the presence of some form of covering. he went on to pose a series of pints to the Jury for their consideration.
Richard Wilmott Qc then gave his closing speech on behalf of P.C. Mark Fannon and posed the Jury 15 questions for them to deliberate upon including, considering when was the blanket placed on Kingsley head and went into the fine detail of whether it was a blanket/towel or sheet, however, no denial of its existence. He further invited the Jury to consider that getting it wrong is not the same as lying.
He then went onto to tell a story of previous trial and a motor vehicle incident he was involved in. Interesting but irrelevant.
The trial resumes on Monday when Her Honour Judge Kristina Montgomery QC will commence and her summing up and it is anticipated that the Jury will be sent out to deliberate on or about lunchtime.
The case continues............
