Today PC Paul Greenfield one of the three West Midlands Police Officer's facing charges of Perjury and Perverting the Course of Justice, returned to the witness box to finish his cross-examination which was very much in the same vein as yesterday, unable to explain his actions and apparent lack of observation, with reference to the head/face covering, whilst appreciating the importance of it being removed.
PC Mark Fannon took the witness box after and clearly stated that he did not see any sheet or blanket in the vicinity of Kingsley Burrell. In fact when challenged by Michael Burrows QC Counsel for the Prosecution he was adamant that he not lying.
Although at one point he claimed that Kingsley was flashing about and swearing and he disregarded what Kingsley was saying, even if he was asking for help. He did admit that a covering of Kingsley head is dangerous and should be removed.
In admitting the presence of a blanket in the video and photographic evidence, he is still adamant that he did not see this as although being by Kingsley head his focus was on his arm. He also stated that he did not see the whaite sheet that PC Paul Adey referred to when he gave evidence.
Tomorrow we reach the commencement of the climax of this case, with closing speeches and it is anticipated that this may go to the Jury for deliberation either late Friday or Monday.
The Case Continues...............
