Our Youth Forum is now building up in a positive way.
However, after our meeting yesterday, it was yet again alarmingly highlighted that school leavers were not aware of the roles, that are available for them participate in.
They were unaware of the roles of MP’s and Councillors, some did not even know what I meant when I referred to the Council House yet alone Westminster.
This only emphases the task ahead in empowering our young people with the tools that they need to become tomorrow’s leaders.
We have already taken positive steps and thanks to Councillor Paulette Hamilton the Lord Mayor Mike Leddy will be hosting 20 member’s of our Youth Forum at the Council House at the end of July and arrangement are be made for them to also visit Steelhouse Lane Police and also have the West Midlands Police & Crime Commissioner Bob Jones there also, for which we thank Inspector Karen Geddes for facilitating in the first instance.
We are also seeking to arrange a visit to Parliament for them at some stage.
This Youth Forum is open to all young people and is not a closed club. Our next meeting is on Saturday 20th July 2013 at 11.00am – 1.00pm at Cannon Street Memorial Baptist Church 330 Soho Road Handsworth Birmingham B21 9NA in one the Halls.
This is an opportunity to formally work out ways of tackling issues that affect the daily lives of our young people by engaging the system of Governance that exists and ensuring that the appropriate leadership’s hear you voice and know that you mean business.
See you at our next meeting.
