In order to vote in the forthcoming Local and general Elections on May 7th 2015, you must ensure that your registered to vote by April 20th 2015.
You can register to vote by filling in a voter registration form which is available from your local Election Office or Town Hall and online, all you need is your national insurance number.
Why Register?
Politician's may seem to be untouchable to many, however, as you can clearly see they are in reality accountable to the public, some how be it at election time. It must be noted that they are seeking your vote which is your personal choice, they don't have it right to it, however, it is actually you that have the choice of what to do with it' hence it is your power and not their's.
Complaining in the comfort of your living room or over a drink in your local or in the barber shop or hairdresser, helps you to express yourself, however, the only way to ensure that your view counts is by registering to vote and then using it in an informed manner and vote for the individual that you feel will represent you.
Accountability
In some cases you will see your Local MP walking along your road asking for your vote and it may well be the first time that you are seeing them since they were elected in some cases, however, don't dwell on that, be assertive and ask them where have they been and what have they done for you?. If your happy with the response then vote for them, if your unhappy vote for someone else, but, the important message is use your vote. Your vote is sovereign to you and Politicians need it to remain in power, therefore, it is up to you the ensure that they earn it as opposed to just demanding it.
